Improve your whitewater rescue skills this year

WWater is dangerous if not treated with respect. When you mix ropes and the dynamic moving water environment it can prove to be extremely dangerous unless you know what to do.
This course is designed for people of all levels that wish to undertake relevant training in Safety and Rescue Techniques appropriate for water of Grade 3 and above.
It is an ideal course for those who want to paddle grade 3 and above whitewater.

Where?It takes place on a grade 3+ river. We use Avonmore in Wicklow and the Easkey in Sligo plus other rivers throughout the country depending on course location.

Group Size:

There is a Maximum group size for this of 4 people. We can cater for smaller groups but the cost per person is more expensive.

How Long?

It's a 2 day course that will introduce you to or brush up on your advanced rope work and rescue skills.

  • Leadership roles and decision-making on a riverbank
  • Stabilisation lines.
  • Advance Anchor Points and Belaying
  • The Use and Applications of Vector Pull, Tensioned Diagonal,V-Lower, Z Drag
  • Extraction of Foot / Body Entrapments, Broaching / Pinning
  • Talk about safety on the water: The Flow, Hazards on the river, Weather, Kayaking Experience,
  • Equipment we can provide:

  • Throw Rope Helmet, Buoyancy Aid, Cag, Wetsuit/drysuit,
  • Equipment you will need:

  • Throw Rope, 2 x Slings, Open sling, 2 x Screwgate Karabiner, 2x Prussics, Helmet, Buoyancy Aid with Chest Harness, River Knife
