Whitewater Canoeing is so much fun and can provide a great adrenaline rush. Our Introduction to Whitewater course is for advanced beginners who have completed the level 2 skills course or have 5 to 10 days previous experience in a Canoe before. If in doubt just give us a call. On the course we teach and refine the techniques needed to paddle a kayak safely and confidently on grade 2 whitewater rivers.
Our introduction to Whitewater Canoeing course contains the following:
We select the right equipment for you and explain why
Talk about safety on the water: The Flow, Hazards on the river, Weather, Canoeing Experience, How many people is safe
Cover the basic paddling strokes: Forwards, Backwards, Turning and Stopping
The more advanced techniques: Edging, Ferry Gliding and Breaking in and out of eddies
Go for a little trip along the river over the fun rapids
It takes place on a grade 2 with easy access. We use the Inny River in Ballymahon located in the Midlands as our local run but we can do this at many locations throughout the country.
Group Size:
There is a minimum group size for this of 4 people. We can cater for smaller groups but the cost per person is more expensive.
How Long?
It's a 1 day or 2 evening course and will give you the skills you need to be confident in a Canoe and join a club.
